3 Rules for Better Health (2024)

By Donna Stark

With all of the different opinions and plans available to us, it's no wonder that so many people become confused and overwhelmed when trying to improve their overall health and fitness. It's also no wonder that many people find themselves giving up before they even give the process a chance. And that is unfortunate, because if there is anything that should be free of complications, it's the journey to better health, don't you think? Well, what if I told you that in order to improve your overall well-being, you only need to live by three rules? Would that make things easier for you?

Rules for Better Health

There are many factors that you may need to consider when trying to improve your overall health and fitness, but most of those factors will fall under three general rules ... get moving, eat healthily, and be realistic. Now that doesn't mean you won't need more details or require extra assistance to reach your goals, but if you want a simple place to begin, those three rules are a good starting point. Let's take a look at each one here.

  • Get moving - A sedentary lifestyle is not your friend! Try to incorporate at least 30 minutes of physical activity into your daily routine, and if you have a great dislike for exercise, don't worry! There are so many other ways to keep your body moving. Try a dance class, take a morning walk, hike on the weekends, or chase your kids around the park. You don't have to do the same thing every day, but if you want to stay motivated, it helps if you choose an activity that you actually enjoy doing.
  • Eat healthily- Consuming real, whole foods that are as close to their natural state as possible and eliminating processed foods and sugar from your diet is certainly a step in the right direction. In fact, it is one of the most important things you can do for yourself because unless you are eating healthily, it won't matter how much exercise you do each day. Fill your diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables, lean meats and fatty fish, nuts and seeds, whole grains, and heart-healthy fats. It's also important to watch how much you eat as well, so pay attention to portion sizes!
  • Be realistic - This is where many people end up quitting because they expect to see impressive results and massive gains immediately after they start. For so many of us, that is simply not realistic, so give yourself plenty of time and grace. Remember, this journey isn't a race. It's a process.

Finding Success

Don't overcomplicate your journey to good health. By following the rules above and asking for assistance when you need it, you will be able to reach your health and fitness goals in no time! Good luck!
