Wood vs. Vinyl Swing Set: Which Type of Swing Set is Best?
If you’re debating whether to get a wood playset or a vinyl playset, here are a few key points to consider:

A wood playset is almost always going to be less expensive than a comparable vinyl playset. If cost is the main deciding factor for you, then wood might be your best option.
- Longevity

The average lifespan for our playsets is 20 – 25 years. When properly cared for, both wood and vinyl playsets can stand up to years of wear and tear, with vinyl having a slight edge in longevity.
- Durability

Vinyl playsets have a vinyl-wrapped pressure-treated wooden core for a sturdy virtually maintenance free lifetime of usage. Wood playsets can splinter if not maintained on a regular basis, so you need to keep after that for safety. Vinyl won’t crack or splinter as wood can, which is a nice benefit.
- Style & Layout

With both wood and vinyl sets, you’ll find similar configurations and accessory options. Some customers simply prefer the look of wood or vinyl and choose based on that. We do have the option of a wood look finish on the vinyl playsets.
White or Almond vinyl stands out more in the yard, while woodgrain vinyl or wood tends to blend in slightly better with its natural surroundings.
Adapting Playsets as Kids Grow
The best thing about our playsets is that you can adapt them as your kids age. For example, you might start off with a baby swing seat and then change to a standard belt seat or tire swing as the child gets older. - Do we come and check the property to see if the site can accommodate a structure?

You can request that we come and check your site if you have a question about how a structure could be installed on your property. During this site evaluation meeting we can also answer any questions you have and talk about your custom options.
If your site is within a reasonable distance from one of our offices there will be no charge, however, for sites that are further from our office there may be a fee that will be credited towards the cost of your purchase.
- Is site prep included?

Site preparation is not included in the standard playset price. The area where you want the playset placed must be cleared and be level (within 6″).
