VIDEO: Caitlin Clark Explains What Was Behind The Quickfire Decision To Pull Off A Move That Went Viral At Paige Bueckers’ ExpenseClick to watvh full video : https://lnkd.in/g5wP6ZExIowa star Caitlin Clark discussed a viral play from the end of Friday night’s win over UConn while speaking with reporters after the game. The Hawkeyes star is headed to the National Championship game for the second straight year after scoring 21 points to help her team edge one step closer to silverware in her final college season. While she had the clamps on her for most of the first half, Clark made some big plays during the Final Four matchup, including one that saw her throw an inbound pass into Huskies star Paige Bueckers’ back to run time off the clock in the dying moments.Check it out in the video below:The move pretty much sealed the deal for the Hawkeyes, who were up by one point at the time, and they went on to win 71–69.Clark explained the thinking behind the play during her post-game press conference.“I watch a lot of basketball. I understand basketball. She had her back turned to me,” she said. “The biggest thing at that point in the game is you just want the clock to go down. You don’t want to give them the ball, but she had her back completely turned so I was just trying to waste some clock. It just came to my brain. So I just went for it and it kinda worked.”Caitlin Clark Is Just One Win Away From Her First National TitleWhile Caitlin Clark had a poor first half — thanks to intense defensive pressure from UConn’s Nika Muhl — she was on point when it counted. The 22-year-old will hope to clinch a national title when Iowa takes on the South Carolina Gameco*cks on Sunday.Caitlin and the Hawkeyes lost to LSU in last year’s final but took care of the Tigers in their Elite Eight clash earlier in the week. She’s now just one win away from the biggest achievement of her college career.

AP Top 25 poll thoughts: Is it time for a new No. 1? Why I voted for Texas over GeorgiaThe college football schedule has reached October, a time when we forget about preseason expectations and rank teams based on what they’ve actually accomplished now that sample sizes have increased. Is it time for change atop the AP Top 25 poll? I believe so …1. Yes, I did it: I voted Texas No. 1.Is it out of boredom with the status quo and the desire for something new? Is it inconsistent with previous statements that I’d keep Georgia No. 1 until proven otherwise? No, I don’t think so.It may still feel like the season has barely begun — September was light on marquee matchups, all told — but Georgia has played 41.7 percent of its regular season. In that time, only in brief stretches has it actually played like the No. 1 team. It certainly didn’t do so in a 27-20 win at Auburn, a game that was too close for comfort against a team that failed to score an offensive touchdown a week earlier against Texas A&M.That’s not to say Georgia shouldn’t get credit for winning at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Media members and fans alike can get carried away with the demand for style points, when the truth is that repeatedly winning on the road in conference play is difficult, especially in a rivalry game at a place like Auburn (the same holds true for Florida State’s win at Clemson). But enough time has passed that even if Georgia has yet to lose and show it’s definitively not No. 1, it hasn’t accomplished enough to make its top-ranked status unassailable. Once October arrives, there’s not a lot of room for “benefit of the doubt” rankings driven by preseason beliefs. Georgia is still a very good football team with the possibility of being great, but arguments can be made for others in a season that feels increasingly more wide-open than recent years with each passing week.

#nppsportsMichigan football players used their bye week to not only rest and recharge, but also to study their upcoming opponents. In particular, quarterback J.J. The NBA from three... nothing but net. 🏀 NBA drove 4.58M viewers onABCand ESPN2, making it the most-watched game during the regular season in nearly six years (since February 2018), excluding Christmas Day.🏀 Audience average was up 46% versus last year’sNBA Saturday Primetime on ABCseason debut game between the Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors(the closest comp given uncharted territory). 🏀 Kevin Hart's Manningcast drive 10% of the viewership and throughout the NBA In-Season Tournament, NBA League Pass daily average viewership was up 45% vs. the comparable time span last season.🏀 And let's be honest, the Lakers winning is good for the NBA too. Imagine the NBA and Disney/ESPN/ABC will continue to optimize the entire in-season tourney slate (smelling a Hard Knocks-esque opportunity, deeper entertainment integration like they do with the All-Star game and possibly some web3 opportunities to further eventize) but this was a big win out of the gate.

10 Cunning Players to Focus on: Featuring Brock Purdy and Skyy MooreIn the era of social media, it can be challenging to find sleeper picks in fantasy football that others aren’t aware of. If we’re keeping it 💯, NBA All Star Weekend is broken. Ok, I’m being overly dramatic — the Steph/Sabrina contest was AWESOME at least.BUT the incomparable David Aldridge called the All-Star game itself “irredeemable” after the East topped the West squad 211-186, an abomination to the sport of basketball led by the biggest stars on the planet. So, how do we fix it?Here are my radical ideas to revitalize ASW…Scrap the All-Star game. (Gasp!)Instead, use All-Star Weekend to host the final four of the in season tourney. Make that the main event. You can still do the Vegas event earlier in the season to determine the final four. What about all the other ASW stuff? You can still do it! Go ahead and keep the rising stars/celeb game/all star Saturday, but with a few tweaks.Make it so only All-Star selections participate in All-Star Saturday. We’re so desensitized to impossible dunks at this point, but we’re still moved by competitive story lines! For example, I think we’d all enjoy a LeBron vs Anthony Edwards type dunk contest.Further… make All-Star Saturday start earlier. In the 90s, All-Star Saturday typically started around 6pm. The All-Star game was always on Sunday afternoon (typically tipped off between 4pm and 6pm). Intentional or not, this increased accessibility to kids/families and created generational connections that are still driving the value of the NBA today. This year, the dunk contest wasn’t over until around midnight on the east coast and the All-Star game didn’t even tip off until about 9pm ET.Ok, one final thing… I like Indianapolis, it’s where I did my accelerator program, but from henceforth, All-Star Weekend shall only occur in places that have warm weather and sunshine in February. Ok this is more of a personal request, but it’ll boost morale all around. What changes would you implement to NBA All-Star Weekend?
