HOW DO YOU COOK BACON WRAPPED CHICKEN SKEWERS?

This recipe takes very little time to prepare with just a few ingredients, including: boneless skinless chicken breasts, seasonings, and bacon.

  • Preheat oven to 350F.
  • Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil and position a wire rack on top of the baking sheet. Spray wire rack with cooking spray and set aside.
  • Next, cut up the chicken breasts into about 1-1/2 inch pieces.
  • Drizzle chicken with a bit of olive oil.
  • Season chicken pieces with your favorite seasonings, or you can use my blend; I like to use salt, pepper, sweet paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, and dried basil.
  • Take bacon slices and cut them in half.
  • Wrap each bacon half around a piece of chicken, then thread onto skewers. About 5 to 6 pieces per skewer. You want to pack them close together on the skewer so that the bacon slices stay intact.

FAQs

Is breast or thigh better for skewers? ›

I've specified boneless skinless chicken thighs for this recipe; they're juicier and more flavorful than boneless skinless chicken breasts, and they also hold up better when using an acidic marinade; yogurt or lemon-based marinades can make boneless skinless chicken breasts leathery.

How do you keep chicken skewers from drying out? ›

I didn't want to use olive oil (I wanted to reduce flare-ups, not encourage them), so I tried some pieces of lemon on the skewers, and that really did the trick: The results were moist and flavorful, and the hot lemon juice squeezed over everything else at the table was lovely. A few words about the actual skewers.

Why is bacon wrapped chicken pink? ›

It is possible for the chicken to remain slightly pink when wrapped in bacon. The nitrates in the bacon could tinge the chicken pink, or the chicken can have a pink hue from a pigment in the meat called myoglobin.

Can you cook chicken and bacon together in the same pan? ›

Add the chicken to the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until cooked through and golden brown. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add the chopped bacon and cook until crispy. Remove the bacon from the skillet, leaving the grease behind.

Does chicken bacon taste like bacon? ›

The taste was completely different, and surprisingly similar to real bacon, except obviously much healthier and without the shrinkage due to its leanness. I immediately bought two more packages of it and it's my go-to breakfast meat now. I can't believe how good this stuff is!

How do I keep my chicken from sticking to my skewer? ›

Temperature and time are the keys to grilling chicken. First, put a light coating of olive oil and seasoning directly on the chicken to help prevent sticking. Second, keep the grill temperature around 425-450F. If the temperature is too high the chicken will stick!
