Pros: Leveled texts, new target lessons, and formative data make it easy to tailor the experience. Guiding, assessment, and discussion questions as well as annotations offer layers of learning. Cons: Students will need some help to get the most out of the toolbar.

The CommonLit Assessment Series tests provide teachers with data on their students' performance compared to one another, as well as all other CommonLit students in the same grade who took the same assessment.

Every CommonLit assignment is worth 100 percentage points, with each question worth an equal percentage of the total. Short answers are worth the same percentage as multiple choice questions. So, if there are 4 questions, each question is worth 25%. If there are 5 questions, each is worth 20%.

Yes! Students do not have to finish an assignment on the CommonLit digital platform in one sitting. As long as the student clicks the Save and Next button at the bottom of the question after selecting or writing each of their answers, their progress will be saved.

If you need help as you read, open Read Aloud and click the speaker icon next to the paragraph, line, or question you want to hear read aloud. If you need to read a translation, open Translate and click the globe icon next to the line or paragraph you want to read a translation for.
