2. Use curved lines to complete the outer petals. Then, extend pairs of wavy curved lines from the bottom of the rose and allow them to meet at sharp points.

These are the sepals, small green leaves at the base of the flower. Then, extend a long curved line to form the rose's stem.

3. Continue drawing the branching stem. Use curved lines, noticing how some diverge and run parallel to new lines. Some meet at sharp points.

4. Next, draw a rosebud - a flower that has not yet opened. From the bulge at the end of the stem, draw several narrow teardrop shapes.

Then, enclose another rounded teardrop shape partially hidden by the previous shapes. Then, band this shape with curved lines to indicate the tightly curled petals.

From the sharp stem, extend several curved lines. These will become the veins of leaves. Enclose the teardrop shapes of the leaves around them.

5. Continue drawing the stem and divergent twigs using pairs of curved lines. Use curved lines that meet at points to enclose the unusual, balloon-like shape of the rosehip fruit at the end of one twig.

On the other, extend two curved lines to form the leaf veins. Then, enclose the teardrop shapes of the leaves around them.

6. Use pairs of curved lines to sketch the branching roots. Each root should end at a sharp point.
