How do I know my women's size? ›

In the context of clothing sizes, a U.S. size 6 is generally considered to be within the range of what is often regarded as an average or medium size for women in the United States.

US size 12–14 is usually considered “Large” and some brands do start “plus sizes” at 12. However, “plus sizes” usually begin at 14 or 16 (Which I believe is a misnomer; in reality, 12–16 sizes are actually pretty average.)

I found a chart at a site called “stitchfix” that says that Size 8 is the same as “medium”, and women anywhere from under 5 feet tall to over 6 feet tall, and from 120 pounds to 160 pounds can fit in a Size 8 garment.

In standard women's clothing sizes, Size 10 is considered “Medium”. A woman who is 4′ 10″ or less and wears size 10 Petite clothing would likely be considered overweight.

Size 8 is a common size worn by many normal, healthy women. “Plus size” typically starts around a size 12.
