What percentage of vet school applicants get accepted? ›

When it comes to getting into vet school, the competition can be stiff. According to the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC), the average acceptance rate for vet schools in the United States is around 10%. This means that for every 100 applicants, only 10 are accepted into a veterinary program.

The hardest vet schools in the US to get into are also some of the highest-ranked. These include the College of Veterinary Medicine at UC Davis, Cornell University vet school and Colorado State University veterinary school.

Getting into veterinary school is a highly competitive process as they are among the most selective professional programs, with acceptance rates often lower than medical or dental schools. There are only 32 vet programs in the US and five in Canada.

Math in Veterinary Science
