- What are Optical Illusions?
- How do Op Artists manipulate space to create an illusion?
- What is 1 point perspective?
- How does a change in point of view affect our perception?
- In drawing, how do you turn a 2D shape into a 3D form?
- What are the different categories of Optical Illusions?
Famous in the mid-60's, Op, or Optical, art typically employs abstract patterns composed with a stark contrast of foreground and background - often in black and white for maximum contrast - to produce effects that confuse and excite the eye. Op Artists may have also used "tricks" to manipulate an illusion of depth or space.
Students will attain the skills necessary to manipulate space and/or create the illusion of depth, understand how artistsuse "tricks" to fool the eye, apply their knowledge in the production of a project worthy of their efforts and be able to constructively evaluate the results. Knowledge of Optical Illusions and its abilities and limitations will be further explored in the form of drawing with colored pencils.
